✳ Welcome to our kitchen
Hi, I’m Laura!
Welcome to Our Family Taste
I’m a home cook — not a trained chef — and this little corner of the internet is where I share the recipes my family actually asks for again and again. Everything here is cooked in my own kitchen first, with ordinary ingredients and honest notes about what really works.
If you’re looking for easy, reliable family recipes that bring everyone to the table without stress, you’re in the right place. Pull up a chair.
- Tested in a real home kitchen
- Step-by-step, beginner friendly
- Family-approved favourites

Good food brings people together
Our Family Taste started the way most good things do — around a crowded table. Weeknight dinners, holiday spreads, birthday cakes… the meals were never fancy, but they were always the part of the day everyone showed up for.
I started writing the recipes down so they’d never get lost — the stew that fixes a bad day, the pie everyone requests at Thanksgiving, the weeknight dinners that save a busy Tuesday. Friends started asking for them, then friends of friends… and this blog was born.
My philosophy is simple: cooking shouldn’t be stressful. A recipe should use ingredients you can actually find, explain every step clearly, and forgive the occasional swap. If it works in my busy home kitchen, it will work in yours.

Nothing is published straight from a notebook. Every recipe goes through the same three steps in my kitchen.
Cooked & tested at home
Each recipe is cooked in my own kitchen — usually more than once — until the timing, temperature and seasoning are right for a real home cook.
Written step by step
Then it’s written up with clear steps, a full recipe card, and nutrition calculated from the actual ingredients — plus swaps and tips in the notes.
Taste-tested by family
Only dishes that earn a genuine “make this again!” from the toughest critics I know — my family — make it onto the blog.
Our promise to you
Four things you can count on in every single post.
Recipes that really work
If a step failed in my kitchen, it gets fixed before it ever reaches yours — never after.
Plain, honest instructions
No chef jargon, no skipped steps. If there’s a shortcut or a swap, it’s written in the notes.
Everyday ingredients
Everything comes from a normal grocery store — no special equipment, no hunting for rare items.

Questions readers ask us
A few quick answers — for everything else, our contact page is one click away.
Who is behind Our Family Taste?
Laura — a home cook who develops, tests and photographs every recipe in her own kitchen before it appears on the blog. The family helps with the most important job: taste-testing.
Are the recipes really tested?
Yes — every recipe is cooked at home first, usually more than once, and only published once it works reliably. Nutrition on each recipe card is calculated from the actual ingredients.
Can I request a recipe?
Please do! Reader requests are our favourite source of new ideas. Send yours through the contact page — or tap “Suggest Me” in the menu for a surprise pick.
Can I share or save your recipes?
Saving a recipe for your own kitchen is always welcome — every recipe page has a handy recipe card for that — and sharing a link to a recipe makes our day. Please don’t republish full recipes or photos elsewhere without asking first — a quick message is all it takes.
Come say hello!
Browse the recipes, save your favourites on Pinterest, and if you cook something — tell us how it went. Those messages are the best part of this job.
A note on our photos: some of the photos on Our Family Taste are digitally created to illustrate the finished dish, so you can picture exactly what you are making before you start cooking.
