Welcome to Our Family Taste (ourfamilytaste.com). This website is run by Laura, and it exists for one simple reason: sharing family recipes that real home cooks can enjoy. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit, why we collect it, and what choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described below.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information we need to run this website and make it better for our readers:
- Information you give us. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and comment you submit. If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message so we can reply to you.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser type, device type, the pages you view, and how long you spend on them. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies and does not directly identify you.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve Our Family Taste, to respond to your comments and messages, to understand which recipes readers love so we can create more of them, and to keep the website secure. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We and our partners use cookies to remember your preferences, to understand how visitors use this site, and to serve advertising. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings; if you disable cookies, some parts of the site may not work as intended.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies so you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies last for one year. An additional cookie is set when articles are edited or published by the site administrator; it contains no personal data.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Our Family Taste displays advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. When ads are served on this site, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. As a result of ad serving, third parties may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, IP addresses and other identifiers to collect information about your visits.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use Our Family Taste — for example, which recipes are most popular and which pages need improvement. Google Analytics uses cookies and other identifiers to collect this usage information in a way that does not directly identify individual visitors. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the browser add-on available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images or social media posts (for example, Pinterest or YouTube content). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited that other website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you have an account with them and are logged in.
Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data. Information is shared only with the service providers that help us operate this website — such as our hosting provider, analytics provider and advertising partners — and only to the extent needed for them to provide their services. If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
How Long We Keep Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and manage our correspondence.
Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have left comments on this site or sent us a message through the contact form, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, and you can request that we erase it. This does not include any data we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes. To make a request, please reach us through our Contact page.
Children’s Privacy
Our Family Taste is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the website grows and the services we use change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
